Document Sets in SharePoint 2010

Title: Document Sets in SharePoint 2010

Details: Document Sets ( similar to document content types ) are like logical grouping or tagging of your documents in SharePoint 2010. You can also Save the entire document set to another location too. Here below are few screen shots on how to create document sets.

Steps:

#1 Activate the Document Sets Feature ( Site Collection Features ) on your Site Collection.

#2 Goto the settings on your Document Library > Advanced Settings
#3 On Advanced Settings > Set the option 'Allow management of content types?'
#4 Then under the Content Types on the Settings page, choose 'Add from existing site content types'
#5 and then choose 'document set' content type from the available 'document set content types'
#6 Once you go back to your document library; choose the option New ( button ) and notice the Document Set Link
#7 Now you can add documents to this document set as shown below
#8 When you navigate back to the document library, you can aswell add documents at the document library level ( not the document set ) and they can co-exist together as shown below.
#9 You can as well send this document set to another location ( defined by your administrator )
